Salvia coahuilensis ‘Blue Lightning’ (Coahuila Sage)

For depth of color there is no better blue sage than Blue Lightning.  It has deep almost flourescent blue flowers from mid summer through to early winter.  The flowers are held above the soft grey green foliage.  It is a small Salvia only growing to75 cm tall by 80 cm wide.  Blue Lightning was originally named Salvia lycoides but was renamed  S. coahuilensis after a scientific review

Like most Salvias, Blue Lightning prefers full sun and well drained soil.  It performs best with an annual feed of Osmocote Outdoor Trees and Shrubs after flowering.  It should also be pruned once or twice a year to maintain a compact and bushy shape.
