Description
A beautiful magnolia with fragrant star-shaped flowers in spring.
The flowers are white with a pink flush at the base.
They appear on the bare branches.
It is capable of growing more than 4 metres, forming a large shrub or a small tree.
The loebneri magnolias are more vigorous and larger growing than the “Stellata”cultivars.
The blossoms are fragrant and appear before the leaves in early to mid-spring.
Care: Grow in moist, well-drained, preferably acidic to neutral soil in sun or partial shade; magnolias do not tolerate wet feet. Magnolia flower buds are susceptible to late-season frosts; shelter large-leaved species from windy locations. Prune in late winter or late summer to prevent bleeding of sap; prune minimally to maintain a healthy framework.Â
